Free CV check
Test whether your CV survives basic screening and parsing before using it in applications.
The free CV check looks for hard failures that can stop a résumé before a human reads it. It does not assign a decorative score. It tells you what failed and what to change.
No account is required, and the uploaded document is not stored.
Run a check
Upload a PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, or HTML file up to 5 MB, or paste at least 200 characters of résumé text. If both are present, the selected file is used.
Choose Check my CV. The result is grouped into four gates:
| Gate | What it tests |
|---|---|
| Knockout questions | Whether essential facts such as identity, contact details, location, and dated experience can be found. |
| Criteria match | Whether the CV names relevant skills found in live jobs for the inferred role. |
| Parse integrity | Whether a plain parser can recover information a person can see. |
| Hygiene | Length, bullet quality, skill clutter, and other readability problems. |
Each gate is Pass, Improve, or Blocked and includes specific reasons. The overall band is Strong, Competitive, or Needs work.
Fix results in the right order
- Clear Blocked knockout or parse issues first.
- Move contact details and other essentials out of headers, images, and text boxes if the parser missed them.
- Add relevant skills only when you genuinely have them.
- Shorten weak summaries and long bullets after access problems are fixed.
- Run the check again on the revised file.
Parse integrity uses Remotera's own server-side parser. The file is evaluated and discarded; it is not sent to a third-party ATS.
What the check does not promise
- It does not predict whether a recruiter will like the CV.
- It does not guarantee that every ATS parses the document identically.
- It does not invent missing experience or rewrite the document.
- It cannot make an ineligible applicant eligible for a location-restricted job.
