Targeted CVs
Create an ATS-safe CV for a defined set of jobs while keeping every employer, date, degree, and skill truthful.
An application profile is a targeted version of your master profile. It defines the jobs you are aiming at and renders a plain, ATS-safe CV from facts you have already supplied.
Use one when your search spans distinct markets—for example, platform engineering and engineering management—and the same headline and skill order should not lead both CVs.
Create an application profile
Open Application profiles and choose New application profile. You can keep up to five.
Define the target with roles, seniority, skills, industry, company size, eligibility, salary, and exclusions. The live readout shows how many current jobs fit and roughly how many new jobs enter that target each week.
Set Match strictness. Lower values admit a broader mix; higher values demand a closer match on scored dimensions. Hard gates—such as eligibility, salary floor, arrangement, and explicit exclusions—still apply at every strictness.
Choose Optimize for these roles. Review the proposed headline, summary, skill order, and follow-up questions. Confirm only skills you genuinely have.
Save, inspect the live paper preview, then choose Download CV from the profile list.
What tailoring can and cannot change
Tailoring can rephrase the headline and summary, reorder known skills, and suggest skills that your existing experience appears to support. You approve suggested additions.
It does not invent employers, dates, roles, degrees, projects, or credentials. The PDF render itself is deterministic: the saved master facts plus the targeted overlay produce the document.
Keep profiles narrow enough to have a point
A profile for “all engineering jobs” usually produces the same generic CV you started with. Pick a coherent target:
- one or two adjacent role families;
- a realistic seniority range;
- a few defining skills;
- the country or worldwide requirement that actually applies;
- a salary floor only if it is a real gate.
Duplicate a profile when two targets share most settings, then change the few dimensions that matter. If the master profile changes, a CV can show Needs refresh; open it, review the effect, and save again.
